Research Event a Success

Over 50 members and guests of Friends of Engineering came to the Faculty of Engineering on May 19th for a delicious lasagna dinner and to learn more about exciting research initiatives taking place.  Dr. James Blatz, Associate Dean, spoke on the Faculty's Strategic Research Plan, and described how companies can take advantage of government funding to gain access to our researchers and research facilities.  Following the formal presentation, everyone was invited to take in a tour of one of four research labs.  Dr. Shawn Clark toured guests through the Hydraulics Laboratory to discuss Energy Systems, Dr. Lot Shafai took people through his Antennas Lab and discussed Information Technology and Communication, Dr. Zahra Moussavi toured folks through her Bio-Medical Lab to learn more about her research in sleep apnea, and early detection of alzheimer's disease, and Dr. Nariman Sepehri toured guests through his Tele-operation & Robotics Lab.  All the tours were well attended and very much enjoyed.  It was decided that all future Friends of Engineering events that take place on campus should have opportunities for tours!
